We were only 30 minutes late and apologized profusely- apparently it happens often due to time changes and Rolf took it in stride.
So speaking of stride, he had a great one and got us right to the heads of lines and he was on the tall side so he was easy to keep track of in the crowded spots.
Neither of us are overly knowledgeable about art history, nor are we serious collectors. Chris did start reading Lust For Life which is about Van Gogh so that piqued her interest a bit more. Rolf did a fun and fantastic job and we enjoyed everything we saw. We didn’t take a lot of time to photograph things, but isn’t there a saying “art imitates life” or something. It seems to me the things that we enjoyed the most are reflective of what we enjoy in life.
Chris liked this one because the cat reminded her of our old cat, Jack, who let the kids do anything to him.
Mike liked the cheese and food one because, well, cheese and food.
And there were several with birds which naturally as bird lovers we admired.
We both found very cool the impression of depth attained in these two made to look like sculptures.
And a close up of the little baby bum and feet that naturally made us think of Adam.
Rolf played a little guessing game with us on this piece and covered up the description asking us what we thought it was.
We did not guess accurately. His description was a diaper changing tray. That made no sense to us as no baby could be placed and changed in that.
As we did a slower walk through on our own after Rolf left us, we went back to recap and read the description ourselves and then it made more sense.
It was a fun and educational time and we were thrilled to have a guide - so big shout out to Lynn for her excellent advice on that!
